An option should be available that would tell JIRA to attempt authentication using a lowercased version of the entered username.Our users are not used to case sensitive usernames and this has caused issues. We are using LDAP authentication and we cannot modify our LDAP to obtain case insensitivity.

If this is possible already, through some configuration of osuser, then it should be documented.
