We just upgraded and discovered that in Jira 8.6 the "Users and Roles" interface changed - so the users/roles are now listed by user instead of by role.
There no longer appears to be a way to show a list of all the roles used project - and which users are in these.
Why did you do this Atlassian?!!!
We can have up to 10 roles in a project and up to 40 individual users across these (we use roles in the workflow with specific permissions, assignments, watcher groups etc. associated that are users have been happily managing - up til now that is).
The screenshot below shows an example - where we have 5 pages or users/roles to scroll through.
In addition, if a user is in multiple roles you can no longer see which roles they are in - without scrolling through the drop down list of project roles across the whole of Jira (we have over 50 roles in Jira).
Our project roles are now unmanageable.
Please give back the original functionality.
