Problem Definition

At present, all free-text fields are subject to the advanced jira.text.field.character.limit property. There is presently no method to override the global advanced property for specific fields.

Suggested Solution

Provide a option when creating/editing a text custom field to override application character limits.

Workaround

The only workaround at this time is to globally raise the jira.text.field.character.limit property to the desired value. Note that this will apply to the Description, Environment, Comment fields as well as text custom fields.
