At the moment, you can only define Application Access when you invite users in Jira which is not efficient in a way that for some Projects, the Browse Project permission is restricted to some groups, therefore, the users won't be able to view the projects assigned to them.

Suggestion

Have the possibility to define group membership when inviting Jira users.
