Issue Summary
German umlauts are not displayed correctly when using batch notifications and text notification format
Environment
Steps to Reproduce
- Enable Batch notifications
- Change your user profile to get Text email notifications (away from default of HTML format)
- Enable profile preferences to get notifications of own changes (makes it easier to test this, but changes made by other users would also test this too)
- Create/edit an issue that has a summary that contains an umlaut character
- wait to receive batched email notification
Expected Results
All characters are represented correctly in the notification message
Actual Results
If the summary contains special German characters, such as those with umlauts, they are replaced by the HTML code character value instead such as
instead of the expected values of
example email received where this happens:
SCRUM / SCRUM-26 [To Do]
HELLO WORLD ö ä ü ß test 12345

Notes
Does not affect HTML notifications, nor does this appear to affect the other notifications outside the batched notifications
Workaround
- You could turn off batched notifications to prevent this temporarily
- Or you could switch notifications to HTML format instead.
