The autocomplete feature for Issues--> Advanced Search only matches on the initial characters of a field. It does not match on any portion of a field.

As an example:

Go to Issues > Search for Issues

Select Advanced

If I Type "Target..." I can choose several options...including "Target Release".
But if I type "Release", no options appear.
