Backlog: Use status category to calculate "Not Started" and "In Progress" sums

XMLWordPrintable

    • We collect Jira feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

      Problem

In the Backlog view in Jira, the current sprint shows 3 bubbles: "Not Started", "In Progress" and "Done".

The times are calculated by looking at the sprint board column configuration, taking all states in the first column as "Not Started", all states assigned to the last column as "Done", and the rest as "In Progress".

We have multiple "Not Started" statuses ("Analysis", "Open") and use a column for each of them. Now Jira sees the "Open" status as "In Progress" because it is in the second column.

      Solution

Instead of using the **board column number as indicator, use the Status "Category" setting, which lets us assign each Status to one of "To Do", "In Progress", "Done".
