Problem Definition
Jira 7.13.1 and 8.0.0 will have default ports specified for a node to node communications. This work is done in https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-66608
We improved the doc previously in JRASERVER-64976 to include the parameter to a specific Object port. It comes to the point that this will now be the default and additional configuration is optional.
Suggested Solution
Update the documentation (Installing Jira Data Center) to explicitly mention opening two ports between the nodes
- Ehcache port default 40001
- Object port default 40011
This is best to be mentioned early in subtopics of the following
- Before you begin > What are the prerequisites?
- 3. Configure your existing Jira instance to work in a cluster
Why this is important
Jira DC requires these ports to be open and reachable between nodes to ensure node-to-node communications.
