Adding links to external pages in the issue's description or a comment with the rich text editor's built in function only works with certain URLs.

I could not find any settings or related issues so I decided to make a suggestion.

      First scenario (positive)

Adding a link to "https://www.atlassian.com/" works fine. The rich text editor will show a clickable link.

      Text mode:

      [Atlassian|https://www.atlassian.com/]

      Switching to visual mode:

      Atlassian

      Second scenario (negative)

Adding a link to e.g. "notes://SRV01007/412569AD002D0EB4/" does not work.

      Text mode:

      [Notes|notes://SRV01007/412569AD002D0EB4/]

      Switching to visual mode:

      [Notes|notes://SRV01007/412569AD002D0EB4/]

      Conclusion

After some testing I found out that the external link feature seems to work only with URLs starting with "HTTP" or "HTTPS". Linking to Documents in external tools, such as our collaborative plattform / mail client IBM Notes, does not work.

Copy / Paste seems to be the only (but not efficient) workaround and I would like to see this feature implemented, as Jira is a modern Web Application and adding links to a text is basic HTML.
