Top navigation bar menu item highlight text colour poorly contrasts after upgrade to Jira 7.11

XMLWordPrintable

      Summary

JIRA's look and feel top navigation bar menu item highlight text colour does not contrast correctly when a user hovers over menu items. By default it is white, but when the user points on a menu item, it's text color will remain the same.
Following, if in Jira's "Look and feel" menu we click on the Revert button for Menu Item Highlight Text Color, it will revert to a white menu item even if we refresh the browser or clear browser cache. This issue does not happen if we update the color manually using color code / color selection tools.
Note: Refresh the browser after changes are made in "Look and feel" to allow the browser to load the updated color configuration.

      Environment

      JIRA Version: 7.11

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Install a new JIRA 7.11 instance and you will be able to reproduce the issue by hover over menu issue list
      2. You can try to change "Menu Item Highlight Text Color" manually and refresh browser. It will update accordingly
      3. Once you updated manually and it works, try click "Revert" for "Menu Item Highlight Text Color" in look and feel
Must use revert button, update manually to white color will not able reproduce the behavior
      4. Refresh browser and re-try hover over menu item

      Expected Results

JIRA look and feel will show its default value accordingly.

      Actual Results

After upgrade, and we restored XML backup with the look and feel configurations, it won't work. We need to manually update "Menu Item Highlight Text Color" again to trigger it to function.

      Workaround

      1. Try to update "Menu Item Highlight Text Colour" color to "#ff00ff"
      2. Refresh browser to check if highlighted text color updated accordingly
      3. Try to update "Menu Item Highlight Text Colour" color to "#ffffff" manually. Don't use revert button
      4. Refresh your browser and check if the highlighted text was shown as white color
If the issue persists, kindly try clear browser cache/open incognito mode browser to re-check. Sometimes it may due to browser cache storing old configuration.
