Description
Searches in Jira heavily rely on Lucene indexes which could have slow access after some time due to the introduced fragmentation of daily operations in index documents - e.g. updating issues, commenting, etc.
It would be great to have some kind of check built into Jira to check the current distribution of segments and recommend the execution of a foreground reindex option - which has an optimization phase that will combine all segments into a single one.
We could also link this to the new standalone optimization process suggested in JRASERVER-67194.
