Problem Definition

Currently, JIRA only comes with 2 default validators out-of-the-box:

• Permission validator: this validator is used to prevent a user from starting a transition if they don't have the right permission
• User Permission validator: this validator is obsolete as it's a leftover from older versions of JIRA. It is mainly here for the users who were using it in older versions, and still need it.

It would be great is we could add a validator that allows to compare 2 user picker fields, for example the reporter and the approver.

Workaround

The 3rd party plugin ScriptRunner for JIRA might help do the comparison. According to one of the comment at the end of this documentation, there seems to be a way to compare 2 user picker fields (please refer to the comment from Shawn Plummer).
