JIRA export to Word should not always create hyperlinks for username fields

    Description

      Problem Definition

When you export issue(s) from JIRA into the Word format, the result shows HTML code embedded in user name fields.

      Example:

       <a class="user-hover" rel="bbobson" id="word_reporter_bbobso" href="http://{Server_name}/secure/ViewProfile.jspa?name=bbobson">Bobson, Bob</a>

      Suggested Solution

It would be helpful if there was a way to turn this off in JIRA when exporting issues to the Word format

      Why this is important

The hyperlink here is then able to take the viewer of this document back to the URL of the JIRA site. There are instances where you might share the word document with other parties to show this is being tracked, but do not want to provide them more information about your specific JIRA instance.

      Workaround

      • If using JIRA 7.4.x or higher, you could use the HTML export option that would provide a very similar output, but without creating hyperlinks for username fields such as reporter/assignee.
      • The other export formats of XML, XLS (in JIRA 7.1.10 and before), CSV (in JIRA 7.2 and later), do not create this same kind of link on those fields
