Problem definition
The project type can be converted easily by changing the project type directly via the project settings > Details. However, there are a lot of unexpected changes (due to lack of documentation) which admins or the user in action should be acknowledged and guided through the process. In some cases, admin unknowingly changing the project type of a project with shared schemes, resulting in unwanted problems.
Suggestion
A migration wizard to guide the admin through the project type conversion progress. It should explain what exactly will be changed, added or removed, allow some of it to be configured during the conversion, and to confirm if the project type should be converted as the last step.
Why is it important
- More flexible options on converting a project type
- To remind the user in action on the expected outcome, especially if the project is using any shared schemes with other projects
