Creating a new project creates a configuration like workflow, screen, issue types scheme etc specific for that project. However, deleting a project does not automatically deletes these configurations which is no longer useful as the project has been removed. Hence, you need to manually delete those configurations.

Suggestion

To have the option to delete these configurations when deleting a project if that project config is not shared to any other projects.
