      Problem:

When trying to copy colored formatted text from a document in Microsoft Word or Google Docs, for example, and pasting into any field (Comment or Description, for example) that is using visual JIRA Rich Text Editor plugin (bundled on JIRA or not), the colored text is not copied properly, but the bold formatted text is.

      Example:

      Copied text from Google Docs:

Pasted text from Google Docs to JIRA:

      Cause

A Word document is not HTML or RTF. It's a proprietary, binary file format. When you copy to the clipboard the information is converted to HTML or RTF, but the result might not be what you expect.

      Workaround

      1. Use another document editor platform, like OpenOffice or Numbers, to paste the formatted text from Google Docs / Office
      2. Copy the text from OpenOffice and paste into JIRA

      Suggestion

Make the JIRA Rich Text Editor plugin (WYSIWYG) copy and paste properly all the formatted content from a Microsoft Word, Pages (Mac OS) and Google Docs document, like it does with other platforms (LibreOffice and OpenOffice).

Tested versions: JIRA 7.1.6 with installed plugin and Wiki Text Renderer enabled and latest JIRA 7.4.1 with bundled plugin enabled and Wiki Text Renderer enabled.
