Rich Text Editor causes text to jump to next line when text formatting is used

If different words/phrases have formatting added in the "Visual" editor, such as bold, underline, or links, the editor will move each formatted word after the first to a new line when the comment is saved. You can see this when the editor is switched to "Text" while editing.

Workaround:

Use the text mode instead.
