BACKGROUND
My team work a lot with Epics, and one thing we do every week is tally up all the Story points for all stories in the Epic. Given the entire team create stories in real time off Epics during refinement meetings, sometimes we end up with 20-30 stories under an Epic at the end of the meeting.
Our Product owner manually tallies the Stories we estimate in his spreadsheet, however, we generally only point ~20% of all the Stories we create at the time we create them. As we progressively pick up the stories, the team refines and estimates them. E.g. we know we will need to do Story X, however, we're not going to estimate it's size until we actually need to begin development in earnest.
The Product Owner is constantly having to manually click into each Story and note the points (which the team can change outside of refinement, as we update points estimates, and also as we split stories which become more troublesome as we work on them) so, it's a constant whack-a-mole for the PO and Scrum Master.
SUGGESTION
MVP:
- Display Story Points next to each Story item in the "Issues in Epic" list inside the Epic
Nice to Have
- Create option to configure whether to display Story points next to each Story
- Create option to Display a tally of all Story points totals underneath, or above, the list of Stories.
