Description
Summary
If you are using license from Plugin vendor directly (not a Atlassian issued license) and install evaluation license for JIRA ServiceDesk or JIRA Software, then it might break license for that plugin.
Steps to Reproduce
- Setup new JIRA Core + Software
- Add licence key - 10000 users (1 used)
- Install Salesforce & JIRA Server Connector plugin (problem reported for this plugin, could be not limited to it)
- Add licence key issue by Vendor, this is key point. Key issued by Atlassian works fine.
- Install JIRA Service Desk
- Add SD Evaluation licence - JIRA Service Desk 3.2.2 Unlimited agents, License type: Evaluation
- Check plugin - ok
- Restart JIRA
- Check plugin - not licensed
- Error: This license supports 10000 users but the Atlassian license allows unlimited users.
Expected Results
Adding evaluation license will not break plugin.
Actual Results
Adding evaluation license breaks plugin
Notes
- This is not pure Atlassian Jira bug, but could be mis-usage of API from vendor side. We encourage vendor to contact us and check that.

Evaluation keys are for the highest user tier available and are compatible across stand-alone product/add-on user tiers and license types.
A note about add-ons
For any add-ons in your instance .. you must still purchase the add-on licensing tier that matches the highest JIRA application tier. ... For example, if you have 500 JIRA Software users and 20 of those users also are licensed for JIRA Service Desk, you only need to purchase an add-on license for 500 users, not 520 users.
