Summary

Cells Copied From a Spreadsheet Get Converted into an Image When pasted in comments on issues

Environment

• JIRA Core 7.0.0 on Chrome Version Version 55.0.2883.95 (64-bit) (64-bit)
• JIRA Software Server 7.2.7 on Firefox 52.X

Steps to Reproduce

1. Open browser > access your instance
2. Have a JIRA Core/Software Project
3. Open Excel > Create a table > Copy that table. This also happens with text copied from OneNote objects (see attached images).
4. Open the issue
5. Paste this table in the comment field

Expected Results

• JIRA should paste the table within the description field.

Actual Results

• JIRA is attaching the table as an attachment.

Notes:

• Customer reported that they are using Excel 2016.

Workaround

Only workaround found so far is to disable the jira-html5-attach-images web resources module for JIRA Drag and Drop Attachment Plugin, however this will prevent copy/pasting actual images directly into the comment section.

Users will still be able to drag and drop images into the issue though as expected.
