Summary
Renaming an LDAP user breaks the avatar if the user was previously from the JIRA Internal Directory
Steps to Reproduce
- Create a user in the JIRA internal directory eg. sam
- Set an Avatar for the user
Create a user in LDAP with the same user anme eg. sam - Sync the directory and ensure the LDAP directory order is on top of the JIRA internal directory
- Rename the user from sam to sammy in the LDAP and sync again
- It will not break yet as the avatar is still displaying for the user ( sammy )
- Login as sammy ( this is an important step )
Expected Results
The avatar should not break

Workaround
Delete the old username from the JIRA internal directory and the avatar will display again correctly :
