      Current situation

At Project > Administation > "Users and roles" I have to click on "Add users to a role" on the top right in order to add uses to a new role or to a role that has already been added.

      Problem

The user interaction of this administration functionality appears to be not intuitive.

      Suggestion

      1. The text links "Add users to a role" and "Edit defaults" should be replaced with buttons. To me, a text link indicates that I can go somewhere (change the page of a website) not triggering an functionality.
      2. To add a role that has not been filled with users for the project I still must use the "Add users to a role" button
      3. To add users to a role where users are already added I can choose the following two options:
        1. I can use the "Add users to a role" button
        2. At the very top of a role list (e.g. between ADMINISTRATORS and the list element where all users and groups are listed) there is a single line text input field where I can simply enter the name of an additional user and I can submit the user by pressing the ENTER key

I was looking for an open issue regarding the design of this page. Let me know if I should open another issue.

There are several challenges with this new UI.

            1. The "Add users to a role" function, defaults the Role to Administrators. This is prone to error if someone hits that enter key to quick. This is the least favorable role to select as a default. In reality, no default should be selected here.
            2. Role navigation is challenging.
              1. First, you need to click "show all". Many folks are missing this link.
              2. Second, once you click the "show all", not all the user/groups are displayed. If the list is too long, there is additional navigation available at the bottom. Folks are also missing that additional navigation. Especially when they were promised to "show all".
              3. Third, once you click the "show all", the other Role settings dissapear which takes me to the last point below.
            3. There isn't a complete view of all the user role settings. In the previous design, I could easily determine what needed to be fixed and fix it with the inline editing. Now, I have to go to each individual role and look for the user/group, then click on the "Add users to a role" to add then setting and then click on the "show all" to confirm that the setup is correct.

Unfortunately, this new design has significantly increased the clicks and added complexity. I wonder if an AB test with the old and new design would help shed light to this.
