Summary

1. When a colon ( : ) is typed on the Filter Results Gadget on the Dashboard, this error is thrown:

The JIRA Server was contacted but has returned an error response. We are unsure of the results of this operation.

Environment

• Chrome
• IE
• JIRA 7.0.9

Steps to Reproduce

1. Create a dashboard
2. Save a filter with the a name that includes a colon for eg JRA : TEST
3. Add a Filter Results Gadget
4. Search for Saved Filter by entering a Colon ( : )

Expected Results

Able to return the filter results with colon

Actual Results

The JIRA Server was contacted but has returned an error response. We are unsure of the results of this operation.

Notes

• All filters are working, just cant be added to a new gadget.
• Filters can be added to the gadget when it is renamed ( without the colon )

Workaround

• Use Google Chrome as it has this option when the error pops up :

  Prevent this page from creating additional dialogs. 
  

  

If this is checked, the error will not pop up again.
