One of our users created an issue with several screen shots (.JPGs) attached to it. The issue was created in the wrong project, so the project lead moved the issue to the correct project. Once in the new project, the links for the issue were still present, but the images and thumbnails were gone.

Our JIRA system administrator copied the thumbnails and image files from the old issue folder to the new issue folder. Everything seems fine now. So, we have a workaround, but no idea why the problem occurred.
