Basically I have an open bug with a summary of: "Use <composite-id> once XDoclet supports it" but when I'm in the dashboard view or other views that list multiple issues and show their summaries, the word: "<composite-id>" is swallowed up.

Looks to me like you need to automatically escape these special character sequences if users use them.
