The index is easily corrupted and therfore needs to be reindex. One example when the index gets corrupted is when the server is shutdown while running a jelly script to update/create issues.

The index should have be self aware. When the statistics don't match the index contents, then the system should go into repair mode where all queries fall back to the db while the system reindexes itself.
