    Description

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Server. Using JIRA Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

      Scenario

In certain situations, the first attempt to shut down Tomcat using:

      • shutdown.sh or
      • stop-jira.sh or
      • catalina.sh stop

fails. A second attempt usually succeeds afterwards though.

      Suggestion

There's a KB that suggests several scripts to force a Tomcat shutdown if first attempt fails:

It would be convenient if one of these scripts is integrated into the built-in shutdown scripts to reduce human efforts when such a case happens.
