As a user of a federated JIRA installation I would like to have automatic JIRA issue linking in comments regardless of which instance the JIRA issue resides on so that I have full visibility of communications regarding issues in my JIRA site.

Currently in JIRA when I enter the Issue key for a JIRA issue into the comments of any issue JIRA will automatically create a hyperlink to the mentioned issue. This also creates a backling from the issue to the comment. In a federated installation JIRA will behave this way only for issues that are local to the JIRA instance. For issues that are on a remote instance automatic hyperlinking does not work.

A rationale solution would be to add this as a native feature of the federated installation. So that sites running configurations that are similar to the link below will have full access to the automatic linking featuer.
