How to reproduce:

1. Go to EAN (https://ecosystem.atlassian.net)
2. Edit an issue, or create a new issue
3. Look at the new formatting bar
4. Select a line of text
5. Click "Bold"
6. Notice the text is now surrounded by asterisks
7. Deselect the line of text, do something else
8. Now select the entire line, including the asterisks
9. Click "Bold" again
10. Notice that extra asterisks have been added. I would expect the ones that are already there to be removed

It seems like the "unformat" function only works if you don't select the formatting characters. That is if I have *foo* and I select just foo then it will work. If I select the entire text then I end up with **foo**.
