      NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Server. Using JIRA Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

      As per the latest documentation Connecting Jira 6.3.to SQL server 2008 and Supported Platform we are still recommending JTDS 1.2.4 to customers.

      JTDS 1.2.4 has been around for 5 years and was released in 2009. There have been a number or releases since then ( See http://sourceforge.net/projects/jtds/files/jtds/ ) which potentially improve the performance at the data layer and bring features improvement such as Kerberos support, etc.
