@ft@winbooks.be Do you still have the code in any shared repository for the XML mapping?

You can use the InSync solution provided by TestTrack (Helix ALM) to sync data between Jira and TestTrack (Helix ALM). This makes working with both very easy.

On a sort of tangential issue. We are using TestTrack TCM for test cases and are looking for an integration between JIRA and TCM, rather than an import. Something where we could like test cases and projects and issues together. We heard rumor that this has been done, but could anyone give me some information about it?

            Thanks

            Hi All,

Many thanks for commenting on this request.

Since JIRA's External System Importer has been moved to a separate plugin we have decided not to add support for Test Track. It seems as though users can eventually get Test Track data into CSV format. Our new plugin can then import these issues easily as we've made some great updates to the CSV importer. We are also wanting to add attachments to the CSV importer in a future release.

If this work around is truly painful for customers then feel free to raise a new request at the plugin's home.

            Thank you.

One of our clients use Test Track and we use Jira internally. So we need to import data from Test Track into Jira every other day. CVS import is a very long process.
Is there any other way I can import the data from Test Track into Jira? Is there a script that I can use?

            Hello everyone,

We, Gerald and myself, finally managed to import our TestTrack project into a new and fresh jira project.

We have managed the issues and the attachments separately :
            For the issues
            1) Export of all issues in a txt
            2) Import in Excel (2007/2010 because 2003 with xls file has length issues)
            3) Changes are applied to our columns :concatenate some info with jira markup to render info in a good way, changes in the assignees, preparation of custom fields,..
            4) Export in Txt tab delimited file
            5) Import as a csv file in jira (our file had to be in ansi otherwise we had issues with accented characters). The mapping between items of TestTrack and Jira is simply great !

            For the attachments :
            1) Export the issues with attachments in a zip (xml export)
            2) In Excel, use the XML mapping to create columns with required info (TT number, filename, dat name)
            3) After a bit of work you finally have a table with original filenames and corresponding .dat names. We have created a third column (first) with the "ren" cmd and concatenated all the useful fields.
            4) After an export in txt, we renamed the .txt in .bat and ran it. All our files were correctly named (+ extension).
            5) The JiraJelly function here helped us to solved the automated import of the files. From the template provided in JiraJelly documentation we have generated an excel file with every info required (Jira issue, location+filename of the attachment). The Jelly script was realized using the concatenate function of excel. The script made, we ran it in jira and everything went nearly fine (some mistakes in files with accented char..).

We have imported 4K issues. We took one day but most part of it was spent to find why the process failed in different places (coding, good concatenation + good markup, ...).

            Hello
We actually have Test Track Pro and are convinced of all Altassians products.
I've tested the csv import but is there any chance I can import attached files (from Test Track issues) ?

            Thanks for your apps.

            Hi Dave,

Unfortunately we are all hands on deck working on popular issues, which we have plenty of. At the moment this enhancement is not scheduled and therefore I am not able to provide a delivery timeline for this.

The best I can offer at the moment is the document, which is also referenced in my previous comment:
            http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Migrating+from+other+issue+trackers

Please bnote, that if you need help, you may also consider involving one of Atlassian partners, who sepcialise in this kind of work. If you are interested in working with a partner, please send an e-mail to:

Thanks for the kind words! We are very glad you are enjoying using JIRA!!!

            Cheers,
            Anton

Any updates to this feature request in the last 3 years, 27 weeks, 1 day?

My company are currently using Test Track Pro and I am convincing them to port over to JIRA. A helpful feature would be some way to automatically import our 5k TTP issues into JIRA. That would be very nice indeed.

Excluding that - loving JIRA very much! Keep up the good work Atlassian people!

            Hi Alex,

It should be possible to create a migration tool that connects to TestTrack Pro's database, extracts the needed information, massages it and imports into JIRA. You can write this as an external tool that inserts iformation into JIRA's db directly. For more information about JIRA's database see:
            http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Database+Schema

Alternatively you can write the importer as a JIAR component and set of WebWork actions as a plugin. Thsi way you will have access to full JIRA's API for creating workflows, etc. For more information on pluging your own components and actions please see:
            http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/JIRA+Plugin+Guide
