Hi,

I have set up security for a client in a way that you have Users | Developers & Administrators, where Developers can do everything Users can + some extra permissions (like creating issues etc). Administrators can do everything that developers can + some extra permissions (like administering the tool). I have done this in all the 6 tools (JIRA, Confluence, Stash, Bamboo, FeCru & Crowd) & it all works, but I have stumbled upon a bug.

I added jira-administrators to the 'JIRA Administrators'-permission & 'Create Shared Objects'-permission. As a consequence, I can't add jira-administrators to the 'JIRA Users'-permission as this is not needed for administrators.

To be able to create a dashboard however, an account has to have the 'JIRA Users'-permission. This makes it impossible to create a dashboard as an administrator with the current permission settings.

As a temporary workaround, I added the people inside jira-administrators also to jira-users. But this is not the way I like it. I would like the jira-administrators to only be placed in the group jira-administrators and be able to do everything a user & a developer can + administration tasks.

      Kind regards,
      Dimitri

[JRASERVER-38509] Can't manage dashboard as administrator

We are seeing this same issue in our Jira Server, only with certain users though and only in Chrome with the small handful of users affected.  The most recent user was using Chrome Version 67.0.3396.79 (Official Build) (64-bit) on Windows 7.  We were able to have him use a different browser (IE) and he was able to then share his filters.

Here is what I did to work around this @dmitry :

Have another non-admin user create a basic search. Have them share it. Log in with your admin account, go to the list of shared objects, find their filter, and take ownership. Now you can edit it and do whatever else you want.

Then i´m sorry as long as you are using Atlassian Cloud, all I can do is suggest you raise a support ticket with Atlassian if you havent already https://support.atlassian.com/contact/

I would be amiss if I didn't mention we (Riada) can host your Atlassian applications and help you with such problems! We run the server versions of the Atlassian applications and can make technical deep dives if needed.

I dont know cloud that well, but in server there is a Global Permission for creating shared objects. Is there such a permission in cloud?

Yes, there is such a permission and I've already tried setting it up. No result

I don't have such a button (Add shares) though I'm the administator of the whole Jira. See below

Basically I own a filter (and i´m Jira-user and admin) and the "Add shares" link is broken and cant be clicked.

I could probably fix it in the database, but as you are on Atlassian Cloud you dont have that possibility.

Hi, Anders! Can you explain what you mean? I have Jira Cloud so it's automatically up-to-date and I cannot change Jira version. I didn't manage to find appropriate issue in Jira Cloud support project and that's why I wrote here.

Still no workaround? In Jira Cloud there is no way to share filter hence I cannot create Scrum board because all issues won't be visible to other users. I think it's a HUGE problem! I've already tried everything in this discussion

hello. yes, that is where to do it. the problem is there are no controls to add shares. in the attached screen shots, you can see that i am the filter owner, and that i have navigated there as described. however, the actual dialog to Edit Permissions (not shown in your attachment) is missing the controls to Add Shares as shown in the "chadwela added a comment - 11/Jan/2018 8:45 AM" comment. in this case there is a share. the only reason that exists is because i had someone else create this filter for me, then share it, then i took ownership so that i could edit the filter itself. i have the same problem whether i was always the owner or whether i took ownership. i have all the direct permissions that the documentation indicates i need to share objects. i am using Jira 7.6.2. this previously worked for me in 5.4 which we recently upgraded.

To access permissions for a filter, navigate to the the filter itself (where the results show) and click on details.  See screenshot.

I am having the same issue and I am a member of jira-users as well as administrators. Also, going to "my" filters section of issues | manage fitlers and click "edit" results in the same broken screen. i can not share any filters i create.

chadwela - the workaround is to add yourself to the jira-users group. Does that work for you?

Can we at least come up w/ a work around.  I was just in a large demo class where the instructor was making link references to Filters my admin Id created and I couldn't share them

Hi, I am trying to share the filter of a Kanban board and it will not let me share it.  Here is what I am doing:

            1. On the top menu I go to Issues  > Manage Filters
            2. In the Filters page I choose "My" on the left-hand-side menu.
            3. For the filter that I want to share, I click "...",  and then on the popup menu I select "Edit"
            4. In the popup window, in the "Shares" dropdown menu I select "Any logged-in user" and press "Save"

--->>> The popup window disappears but the filter is not shared.

Seems to work only when you select "My Filters". You get an option to edit the filter here.

But if you search for a filter and gets listed there though you are the owner, you dont have an option to edit.

Not able to share filter once created? is this issue fixed as yet?

I also discovered this. I am not sure I'd agree it's minor. It's not obvious that this is the solution. Since jira-administrators can't be granted "create shared objects" it's assumed that they should actually have this permission.

Obviously the intent is for this permission to be inherited but it's not.
