      NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Server. Using JIRA Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

      Currently, when JIRA is upgraded, the only changes that would be carried over is :

      • Legacy database configurations
      • TCP port values
      • Custom values in jira-application.properties and setenv.sh

      However, there are quite some cases where there are more files that are modified than that, and when they upgrade their instance, they have to migrate the changes manually to the new instance.

      It would be much more convenient if the changes can be brought over to the new instance automatically during the upgrade.
