Some data types (ntext, text, image) will be officially discontinued in future releases of Microsoft SQL server, as stated by Microsoft in this page:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187993.aspx

We want the Atlassian tools to adjust these modifications and modify some of the existing data types to match the new supported ones by Microsoft.

i.e.: changeitem table is one table from JIRA which currently uses ntext.
