Currently there's no way to set a "default" issue security scheme that would be used for all new projects that are created in JIRA, that's very inconvenient.

There should be a mechanism to do that, the same as it works with Permission Schemes.

[JRASERVER-34742] Have the ability to set default issue security scheme

That's right, this request would most likely be handled with the project template request. It is not something we would add to JIRA on it's own.

            Cheers,

It seems quite rough to me to create a plugin with a hard-coded issue security policy previously that can be created via JIRA Admin interface. And the plugins that I currently see out there are mostly focused on setting up different workflows.

Will this feature request be accepted? If there is an ability to set a default Permission scheme, there has to be the ability to set a default Issue Security scheme because the two complement each other - the latter does what the former is unable to do. That's my reasoning and expectations as a user of the system.

Right, it's currently done with plugins

Yes, but I don't see a way to add a new project template there.

When you go to Admin, Projects, Add Project you are offered some project type choices. Those are project templates.

I don't see Project Templates functionality but would really love to have it. I guess it's not available for OnDemand instances?

My understanding is that this functionality is what Project Templates aim to provide. When creating a project, you choose a template such as "Customer Facing Project" and it will use a particular set of schemes, including the issue security. At the moment the templates are coded as plugins though.
