While using the new 5.2 basic search interface in Chrome and Firefox, I noticed that the autosuggest box would freeze for a period of seconds after each key-press. The situation is exacerbated by having ever-large numbers of options for the field the autosuggest is being used for.

Chrome exhibits the performance issue in a more noticeable way than Firefox. Latest stable versions for both were used for testing (Chrome 25 / Firefox 19)
