      NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Server. Using JIRA Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

      User @mentions are rendered as full user names in email notifications about mentions or new comments, but notifications regarding edited comments display a [~username] string. In those notifications, it can be difficult to identify the user at hand.
