    • We collect Jira feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Server. Using JIRA Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

The ability to mention people in comments for JIRA v5.0 that was completed in JRA-24796 is great. I am sure that the team will use this feature a lot.

With that said, one thing that many of the users like is not getting a lot of emails from JIRA. Many of those individuals setup saved filters with gadgets or filter out only needed information in the Activity Stream. That way they can view in RSS or look at the dashboard rather then get the emails.

      Would it be possible to:

      1. Add a filter on the Activity Stream for mentions to someone and/or
      2. Add a JQL feature that would allow you to search mentions

Since the mentions are already showing up in the Activity Stream I believe an additional feature would be easiest and meet the need.
