JQL Component picker shows the first matching components out of the full list of components. Witha large number of projects with custom component sets the list is enormous. To make it worse, component names may be vary across projects, so you need to guess the component name then guess whether the hit you get is actually the one in the project.

Better: picker uses the project(s) in the query to filter the displayed component list.
