Tested in 6.0.8 and it was already fixed there.

Just tested this in the latest release and it seems fixed.
More likely if was fixed some time ago, sorry for the late resolution.

I am seeing this behavior in v4.4.1#660-r161644 as well. It actually happens whenever you change to Default Assignee to a new value (not only for 'Unassigned').
