    • We collect Jira feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

we've implemented a service to take change logs from our source control system (perforce) and put them in as comments. these are great to have inline, but if there was a way, I'd love to be able to separate these from the actual user-comments.

The way I'd envision it working is that you logically have three types of comments right now - "comment", "work log", and "change history". A custom comment type, e.g. "Email", "CVS", "Perforce" could be used and comments of that type would appear under that tab in the view issue page. Obviously it would be nice to be able to control who can set or modify the comment type, because we wouldn't want users to be able to enter 'CVS' or 'Perforce' comment types.

(forward thinking here... if someone had an email tab they could send email from an issue from within JIRA and have it attach the contents of the outbound email under the same tab – this would be AWESOME for support/helpdesk usages)
