Email icons don't work with custom icons at absolute URL's

I have made custom priority icons that are stored on a different server than JIRA. In the web interface all works as expected, however in emails JIRA seems to prepend it's base URL to the absolute URL already provided.

e.g.

http://jira.domain.comhttp://domain.com/images/icon.gif

resulting in a "broken" image.
