App Links should be able to handle proxy servers that collapse repeated slashes.

On qa-jac I am getting errors when I try to create an App Link:

The URL 'http:/jira.atlassian.com' is not valid. java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Host name may not be null

Reportedly this is caused by "misconfigured" proxy servers.
Perhaps the proxy is trying to normalise the URL in order to do more efficient caching?

It seems that this could hit support a fair bit, so it seems best to just get this fixed.
