Jira DB crashing

Im running jira standalone on my local machine. 5 users have been setup and are using it regularly. Im also the most frequent user of jira.

Every day almost, jira seems to crash once or twice. It would still operate but it looks like it doesnt connect to the database. So when i log in, there will not be any issues when i filter by all.

Usually I would be creating a new issue and when i click on "create" it comes up with a screen (blue background on the first half of the html page). Then when i try to login again, all the issues have disappeared.

I then have to startup tomcat. This solves the problem.

In the window that hosts tomcat, it says something like "cant connect to mysql, database already in use."

Please help!!
