Double Quotes Enclosing Period(s) in JQL Query Does Not Return Results

If a summary, for example, contains "some.text.here" (double quotes included), it is not possible to search based on this using JQL in 4.0.2 or 4.1.1.

No combination of character escaping works, either.

This problem does not exist in JIRA 4.1.2.

This is rather trivial. However, having not found a previous report, it is important to document this for future reference.
