      Atlassian Update – 16 November 2017

      Hi everyone,

The issue has not collected enough votes, watches, comments or support cases during it's lifetime. In this sense overal interest in the reported problem is low.
Jira team is focusing on bigger and more impactful issues at the moment and we are not likely to look at the current bug soon. Therefore I'm resolving the issue as Timed Out.

Atlassian will continue to watch issue for the further updates, so please don't hesitate to share your feedback in the issue comments.

      Cheers,
      Ignat Alexeyenko
      Jira bugmaster.

If I enter typographic quotes in the summary, the description, or a comment of an issue, Jira 4.0 replaces them with ASCII quotes. Jira 4.1 leaves them alone in comments, but does replace them with ASCII quotes in the summary.

By "typographic quotes", I am referring to the following Unicode code points:

      • U+201c LEFT DOUBLE QUOTATION MARK
      • U+201d RIGHT DOUBLE QUOTATION MARK
      • U+2018 LEFT SINGLE QUOTATION MARK
      • U+2019 RIGHT SINGLE QUOTATION MARK

This replacement is especially annoying for issues in the German language, because we use U+201e DOUBLE LOW-9 QUOTATION MARK as opening quote (which is not replaced by an ASCII quote) and U+201c LEFT DOUBLE QUOTATION MARK as closing quote (which does get replaced by an ASCII quotation mark.

Allow me to demonstrate: This looks, frankly, quite „silly".
