      http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Connecting+JIRA+to+MySQL states to put the MySQL JDBC driver in to common/lib/ which no longer exists in the standalone distribution.

      There is however a lib/ directory in the root of the distribution that can be used for this purpose.
