I (and believe many others) have an extreme need to override some of the JIRAS default(built-in) components.

Currently we have an opportunity to do so using Plugin v1. framework.
My concerns are: this type of plugins will not be supported forever + I'm trying to switch to new Plugin Framework (which I believe is supported one).

Please describe what is the supported method for overriding component in JIRA 4.x (not using plugin framework v.1 components)?
I understand that is JIRA customization and might include some JIRA xml file editing and so on, but I really should know what the supported/recommended way is, to make my code maintenance and shift to next JIRA version easier and not so painful.
