When JIRA attempts to respond to a trackback ping, it will use the canonical base URL (not the base URL configured under General Configuration). This can result in situations where:

1. JIRA1 sends out trackback ping to JIRA2 at the URL https://jira2/browse/JSP-110
2. JIRA2 replies with response and encodes its URL as https://jira2:443/browse/JSP-110
3. JIRA1 rejects the trackback response because it doesn't match the originally submitted URL.
