NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Server. Using JIRA Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

I'm looking at the very first Jira Setup screen. It'd be cool if all these fields were filled-in by default with some path that might make sense. If we know that certain operating systems like to store data in their own 'favorite places', then we could even default to them, but that's a bit more advanced/headache. We would just need to pick something semi-intelligent – not / and not /tmp - etc.

Also, the backup path with the on/off switch for enabling/disabling backups is not consistent with the ability to add attachments or not. For attachments, if you put in a path, then presumably you've enabled attachments. This is not the case for backups, however. I can understand wanting to stress an explicity On/Off switch with backups, but in the end, I think these settings should be consitent.

So, maybe attachments have their own 'On/Off' radio button, and it is set to 'On' by default, and the path is pre-filled, and if you choose 'Off', then the path box goes grey, and the path disappears from the input box. I notice that the backups path input box gets disabled, as it should, when you choose to disable backups - so that is cool - I wonder if it is possible to grey it out to - change the background color of the now-disabled box to stress that it is disabled, as it is not completely obvious that it is disabled.

After all of this, the only thing I'll have to do for a new install is paste in my license key and click 'Next'.
